Phil Colbert from The Rodnik Band is the first designer to respond to my "media enquiry" and I'm happy to blog about such an avant garde and creative designer who is unafraid to test the boundary on what it means to be socially acceptable fashion. From the urinal dress to literally being a can of campbell soup, you might find him ridiculous but really, he is merely experimenting with a different medium for existing masterpieces of art!
If you are ever looking for a piece of clothing that screams for everyone to stop and stare, Venus in Sequins by The Rodnik Band is exactly what you're looking for. The Rodnik Band brimmers with an eclectic blend of clothing, art and music that will definitely make you a head turner. Scottish fashion designer, Phil Colbert has found his inspiration in the satire of art, making humorous references and an ironic take on 'wearable art' including Marcel Duchamp's urinal piece.
Yes, everyone loves elegantly costumed ladies and gentlemen but what will the world be like without one or two of the outrageous theatrics! With the intense embroidery and sequin work fashion into each dress, Phil seeks to bring forth playfulness and fun in his collection.
This is what I call wearable art.
Be the statement, don't be a follower.
